So, I know there are something like a zillion or more blogs out there. And, some folks debate over the usefulness and necessity of them. But, I like blogs. I like reading them, as well as writing them.* I subscribe to blogs on a variety of subjects: cooking and healthy living, writing and self-improvement. Stuff that interests me.
Besides learning new tips and tidbits, I like the personal nature of blogs. The writers open their lives, sharing their experiences and struggles and inner dialogues. They provide inspiration, and commiseration, and food for thought.
Blogs are also a great way to connect with people, whether it's an author and her readers, or a blogger and her family, friends, and fans.
(If you're thinking about starting a blog, go for it! The more voices the better.)
It's in this spirit of sharing, that I decided to start this blog. When I was an aspiring writer, I was hungry for articles about the writing life. How did writers do it? And was it as cool as it sounded?
Now that I'm a soon-to-be published author... well, I'm still interested in reading about the habits and practices and observations of other writers. I like peering into the keyhole as much as the next person! But now I'll open my door too, pull back the curtain, and share a bit of MY life as a writer.
Is there anything in particular you want to know? Ask away!
*I wrote a blog once before, for almost three years. I published the last post on January 24, 2013, not realizing at the time that it WAS my last post. But, writing the darn thing was taking way too much of my time-- time better spent finishing the book I'd started years before. So, that's what I did. The book comes out Summer 2016. As for THIS blog... well, the posts will be shorter, and I'll be more disciplined. We'll see how it goes!
